Why Arden & Oak

Thirty years at the bench. Every room built properly.

Arden & Oak was started by a carpenter, not a marketing team. Here's who we are, who builds your room, and why the details matter so much to us.

Our story
30
Years as a carpenter

Years running my own business

Our founder has worked as a carpenter for 30 years — and still thinks like one.

Before Arden & Oak, he built up a successful bespoke manufacturing company and went on to sell it. Years of making things to measure taught him a lot about timber that lives outdoors: how it moves, how it weathers, and how a well-made joint stays tight for years while a rushed one fails in its first winter.

Arden & Oak brings that experience to garden rooms. We design, build and install every room ourselves from our base in Paignton, Devon, using the same care we'd want in our own garden.

That's where the attention to detail comes from. Square frames, sealed membranes, straight cladding lines, tidy trims, neat electrics — the parts you see and the parts you never will.

A word from our founder

“After 30 years in carpentry and 14 years building and running my own manufacturing business, I decided in 2025 that it was time to follow a passion I'd had for years.

I've always loved designing, creating and building things, and garden rooms bring all of those passions together.

For me, Arden & Oak is more than just a business. It's an opportunity to combine decades of hands-on experience with my passion for design, quality craftsmanship and attention to detail.

I don't just want to build garden rooms. I want to create beautiful, practical spaces that people are genuinely proud to own and enjoy for years to come.

Arden & Oak is the business I've wanted to build for a long time, and I'm incredibly proud to finally bring that vision to life.”

Who builds your room

The right expert for every stage of the build.

Timber frame battened out by Arden & Oak carpenters

Time-served carpenters

Our builds are led by carpenters who learned the trade properly — on the tools, over decades. Frames are cut, squared and fixed by hand, on your site, by people who can see when something is a millimetre out.

Fully qualified electricians

Every circuit, socket and light is installed and certified by fully qualified electricians. Nothing is left to a general builder — you get the paperwork and the peace of mind that goes with it.

Freshly plastered and painted garden room interior

Expert plasterers

Walls and ceilings are plasterboarded and skimmed by specialist plasterers, so the inside of your garden room feels like a room in your home — smooth, solid and ready to paint.
